Manage your tax residency efficiently by exploring individual day entries in the Daysium smartphone app. This guide will show you how to use the 'Explore' view for detailed insights into your travel history.
Accessing the 'Explore' View:
Navigate to the Home Screen: Start on the home screen of your Daysium smartphone app.
Locate Tax Rule Cards: Identify the Tax Rule Card you wish to review. These cards contain essential information about your day counts as they pertain to specific tax rules.
Explore Your Day Count: Tap the forward arrow to enter the 'Explore' view of your chosen Tax Rule Card.
Explore Individual Days:
1. View Day Details:
After tapping 'Explore', a list of specific dates will appear. Each date corresponds to a day counted under the Tax Rule you are reviewing.
π‘ For instance, exploring entries from December 2023 might reveal that December 20th and 21st are counted as two separate days.
2. Understanding Special Cases:
Days categorised under special rules, such as 'transit days', are also listed but marked to indicate they do not count towards the total.
π¬π§ Under the UK Statutory Residence Test (SRT), 'transit days' are considered a special case. For example, if you arrived in the UK and stayed overnight on March 9, but left the following day without you carrying out any activities other than staying overnight, it would not count as a day despite you being present. The timeline provides the evidence to support this overnight stay in the UK.
3. Access Detailed Timeline:
Tap on any listed date to open a detailed calendar view for that day, showing your complete travel timeline, including evidence and how your movements are logged and calculated. Here you can also view which days you see, including 'Exceptional' or 'Airside'.
The 'Explore' function in the Daysium smartphone app lets you meticulously review your travel history, ensuring compliance with tax residency regulations. The more robust the evidence you generate, the stronger your tax compliance will be.
